We have all you need to know to make a decision about downhill bikes

Downhill bikes are mountain bikes and are usually used in timed events. It is a highly dangerous and fast paced biking event navigating a course down steep slopes and semi rough terrain.

There are may differences between downhill mountain bikes and a standard bike, including such things as the weight and full suspension design. On top of this the frame of a downhill bike usually leans back and disc brakes are used to slow the bike down.

There are many different models to choose from when it comes to these bikes and prices can range from $2000 all the way to $15000. The bikes are verysimilar to the free ride bikes, however free rides usually had lower frames.

It can be very expensive maintaining a downhill bike as the components have to be storng whilst keeping weight to a minimum. Anything too weighty will slow the bike down and parts that aren’t strong enough could break easily under the immense pressure they are under.

It is a similar story with the design, time and effort go into making the bike as aerodynamic as possible and only the best materials are used, so that the bike is ready for peak performance.

These bikes use better quality materials. The design and manufacturing process also tends to be precise for costlier bikes. The bikes at the top end use cutting edge technology in a bid to confer a speed advantage. The suspension is effecient and the bike is lightweight which helps give the rider better handling at all levels of skill.
